“word to the wise” wednesday: todd romano

I almost threw up my hands.  I stood in the space and thought, “I don’t get it.”  And then it came to me, which 9 times out of 10 is what happens.  I walk into a room and the space, the geography or the architecture gives me a path and a story.

Todd Romano (on the 2012 Kips Bay Show House)

Visit The New York Times for a wonderful article about, and many more photos of, the 2012 Kips Bay Show House.

Great quote! I often walk into a new client's home and think, "what on earth will I do?" After a quick prayer and a little walking around the space, it always comes to me. There's nothing like a great "aha" moment when decorating :)

Read the article last night - I'm a week behind on my papers. Interesting read about the new venue this year and Todd and other designers thoughts and strategy for their designs. Hope you had a great BlogFest - I might need to try to go next year.

Kristie, thanks for your candor about the flash-point fear that one moment when you first enter a client's home considering your options. Thought it was just me! Yes, there is nothing like a great "aha" moment.
