“word to the wise” wednesday: sherrill canet

In my home, the family room is where everyone congregates, so I choose materials like chenille, cotton, and outdoor fabrics that can handle heavy traffic.  Fortunately, you don’t have to sacrifice beauty for durability.  One of the biggest trends in decorating today is an idea I call the luxury of low maintenance.  Nearly all of my clients want gorgeous fabrics that can withstand the elements, and by “elements,” I’m sure they mean children and pets.

Sherrill Canet (in her book A La Carte: Elements of an Elegant Home)

I love that phrase – the luxury of low maintenance.  Isn’t that what every active family needs?  As a mom of twins, I am all about low maintenance luxe!
