“word to the wise” wednesday: phoebe howard

I love all soft colors.  But with color, I never say never, because as soon as I say that, I find that I’m using that color and loving it.  It’s important to have an open mind when it comes to color!

Phoebe Howard (quoted in House Beautiful, September 2012)

I adore Phoebe and her work — and, when I think of her, I usually think of rooms with soft colors — but spend some time on her website and you’ll see what a gorgeous job she does with bold color, too!

On the subject of color, have you seen my friend and fabulous color expert Maria Killam‘s advice in the September issue of Better Homes and Gardens?  It’s the Stylemaker Issue, and Maria and other color experts have great advice on painting your front door.  Hmmm … it just might be time for a new door color Chez Zeller!    If you have questions about color, read Maria’s blog or better yet … download her e-book.  You will never look at color in the same way again!

Do you “never say never” with color?

I have been learning to never say never when it comes to colour... orange is actually one of those colours I always liked, but not for me! And low and behold, guess who has pops of orange popping up in her decor? So, yes, I'm learning to never say never! I'm still working on yellow though ;-)

I have learned to never say never myself! I am just like you- I will tell someone how much I "hate" a certain color, and then without fail I'll find I am drawn to a room or a clothing item in that very color. I will have to check out Phoebe!
