“word to the wise” wednesday: colin cowie

If you want to show people your real sense of style, open your house to them.  The key is to set everything up the night before.  That way, the day of the party, I just have to put food and drinks out, and I’ll still have time to shower, shave, and change into a new shirt.  Dress up.  If you’re a hostess, buy new shoes and a lipstick, and put your hair up.  A gracious host is unflustered and has a great story to tell.

Love it - planning on doing just that this weekend (I'm hosting a baby shower)!

I always say I'm prepared but I'm not necessarily a planner. Does that make sense? If we have a party I always prep as much as possible the night before to alleviate any stress the day of - hand me a glass of wine, some yummy apps and I'm good to go. Now I want to have a party!!

This is so true! I need to entertain more. Nothing like a party to force one to get their house in shape! A good reason to buy new things too!
