“word to the wise” wednesday: karen von hahn

Because that’s the thing about style:  people say, well, anything goes.  if you like it, it will all go together somehow.  But they aren’t being entirely honest.  Each finish, every fabric, each piece you bring into a room contributes its own set of associations, its own unique energy.  To make it all work, you have to have some feel for the mix and the balance.  And the way to get there, in my experience, is to remain open to new possibilities and discoveries and to approach combinations sensually.
