Y’all, I am pouting.  As in … if I were a five-year old twin boy (ahem), I would throw a hissy fit.

Valtekz — the maker of my very favorite faux leathers (think amazing shagreen, ostrich and the like) — has gone out of business.  Of course that means that Celerie’s collection for Valtekz … ça n’existe pas.  Sniff.  Sniff.  My only consolation is that I had already undertaken this project … and it looks fantastic.

If anyone out there has a lead on if or where Valtekz is closing out any remaining inventory, I would be delighted to stock up … and promptly volunteer myself for Hoarders, the fabric edition.  That’s not coming soon to HGTV any time soon!   Ha!

In an effort to console myself … it’s time to announce the winner of Celerie’s fabulous book, Black & White.  Congratulations, Holly of West Pear Avenue!   Holly, send me an email when you get a chance … and I’ll get your book in the mail.   To the rest of you (or at least the Charlotte folks) —

Will I see you at Room to Bloom next week?

P.S.  Did you see me over at Tobi’s blog yesterday?   You’ll learn more about what’s kept me busy over the last year!

  1. I feel you pain Traci. I was in the middle of a project when I found out the sad news.
I love that stuff. There are other vinyls that have the look but don’t really come close.
I am hoping another company will take notice + produce a great looking grass cloth vinyl.
    And yes, nice post yesterday!

Boo Hoo…found the perfect fabric the other day and it was discontinued and NO STOCK left. Not fair that they still had the wing up….grrrrrr.
Guess you are getting ready to go to market now??

  3. Aw, I am sorry to hear that! Great giveaway – sorry I missed it. Keep meaning to pick up her book!

Traci!!!! I was all ready to respond that I was pouting because I didn’t win Celerie’s book, but I did!! Oh my goodness I’m so excited – sending you an email. And that is terrible news about your favorite source Valtekz. And I’ve been meaning to check out your post over at Tobi’s too so I’ll do that right after I e-mail you. Thanks so much Traci!

  7. OMG! Goodbye Valtekz…you were my fav vinyl. Although Robert Allen has a great collection too. Should I pitch all of my books?
GREAT job over at Tobi’s blog!!! You are a rock star!

  8. Traci, I’m just sick! Valtekz? As in those great pleather dining chairs in Palmer Weiss’ San Francisco design house kitchen? That is tantrum-worthy.
